Privacy Policy for CDL Ready

Our Privacy Commitment

We don't like apps that harvest and sell user data. CDL Ready does not do this.

CDL Ready is a study app for the US commercial driver's license (CDL) knowledge tests, developed by an independent sole proprietor based in Sweden. We never sell your data, we run no advertising, and we keep your study data on your own device.

This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what data the app uses and how your privacy is protected.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

CDL Ready is local-first: everything below is stored only on your device (using Apple's UserDefaults and SwiftData) and is not transmitted to us or to any server we control.

• Your study plan: the state, license class, endorsements and optional test date you choose
• Learning progress: which questions and flashcards you have answered, whether correctly, review scheduling, bookmarks
• Mock exam results: scores, pass/fail history and the answers you gave
• Activity: study days and streaks
• Settings: interface language (English or Spanish), reminder preferences, Premium entitlement status

You can erase all of this at any time by deleting the app, or with Reset all progress in Settings.

Notifications

If you turn on study reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. No notification server is involved and nothing leaves your device.

Purchases (In-App Purchase)

CDL Ready offers an optional Premium unlock through Apple's In-App Purchase system, as a one-time lifetime purchase or a monthly subscription. To manage purchases and restore them across your devices we use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service acting as our data processor.

• The actual payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or receive your card number, bank details or billing address.
• RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app user ID, your purchase/receipt information and basic device/app data in order to validate the purchase and unlock Premium. This identifier is not your name and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
• We use this information only to grant and restore your Premium access.

Data We Do Not Collect

• No accounts, no email, no passwords, no third-party login.
• No advertising or ad identifiers (IDFA). We display no ads.
• No third-party analytics, tracking or profiling SDKs.
• No location, camera, microphone, photos or contacts access.
• No selling, renting or sharing of personal data — ever.

How We Use Information

The on-device data is used solely to track your progress and resume where you left off, schedule reviews, calculate readiness and statistics, save your preferences, and grant the Premium features you have purchased.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share personal data for profit. The only third parties involved are Apple (app distribution and payment processing, subject to Apple's privacy policy) and RevenueCat (purchase validation and restoration, as described above). No data brokers, no advertising networks, no social-media trackers.

Your Rights

As a Sweden/EU-based developer we follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for everyone who uses the app, wherever they are. If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have equivalent rights to know, delete and opt out — and because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of. Because your study data lives on your device, you are in direct control of it:

• Access & portability: view your progress and statistics inside the app
• Rectification: change your plan and preferences at any time
• Erasure: delete all local data by deleting the app or resetting progress; purchase data held by our processor can be deleted on request — see Request data deletion
• Objection/restriction: you can use the app without making any purchase

To exercise any right, contact us (below). EU/EEA residents may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority such as the Swedish Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).

Children's Privacy

CDL Ready is intended for adults preparing for a commercial driver's license (18 or older) and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. As all data stays on the device and no profiles are created, no personal information about any user is held by us.

Data Security

• iOS App Sandbox isolation and on-device encryption protect stored data
• No transmission of your study data to servers we operate
• Purchase data is transmitted securely between Apple, RevenueCat and your device

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect app changes or legal requirements. We will update the "Last Updated" date and, for significant changes, provide notice within the app.
