Our Privacy Commitment

We don't like apps that harvest and sell user data. Rijklaar does not do this.

Rijklaar is a Dutch driving-theory practice app for the CBR car theory exam (theorie-examen auto, rijbewijs B), developed by an independent sole proprietor based in Sweden. We never sell your data, we don't run advertising networks, and we keep your personal data on your own device.

This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, exactly what data the app uses and how your privacy is protected.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Rijklaar is local-first: the information below is stored only on your device (using Apple's UserDefaults and SwiftData) and is not transmitted to us or to any server we control.

Personalisation:

• An optional first name you may enter to personalise the app (shown on the home screen). You can leave it blank. It stays on your device.

Learning progress & statistics:

• Which questions and categories you've answered, and whether correctly
• Quiz and mock-exam results, scores and pass/fail history
• Study streaks, time spent and activity dates

Settings & preferences:

• Selected interface language (Dutch or English)
• Notification preference (daily reminder on/off)
• Premium entitlement status

You can erase all of this at any time by deleting the app.

Purchases (In-App Purchase)

Rijklaar offers an optional one-time Premium unlock through Apple's In-App Purchase system. To manage purchases and restore them across your devices, we use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service acting as our data processor.

• The actual payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or receive your card number, bank details or billing address.
• RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app user ID, your purchase/receipt information and basic device/app data in order to validate the purchase and unlock Premium. This identifier is not your name and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
• We use this information only to grant and restore your Premium access.

Anonymous Usage Statistics

To see which parts of the app are used and whether the practice tests help, the app sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck (TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany), acting as our data processor. A signal is an event name such as "quiz finished" with a few values: the type of test, whether it was passed, the score, the app language and the licence class.

• No name, email, phone number, location or advertising identifier is sent.
• The device is identified only by a one-way hash that TelemetryDeck cannot reverse; it is not linked to you as a person and not shared with anyone.
• The questions, your answers and your statistics stay on your device.
• TelemetryDeck stores data in the EU and does not sell or share it.

Data We Do Not Collect

• No accounts, no email, no passwords, no third-party login. You simply enter a first name to start; it is stored only on your device.
• No advertising or ad identifiers (IDFA). We display no ads.
• No tracking, profiling or advertising SDKs. The only statistics are the anonymous usage signals described above.
• No location, camera, microphone, photos or contacts access.
• No selling, renting or sharing of personal data — ever.

How We Use Information

The on-device data is used solely to track your progress and resume where you left off, calculate statistics (streaks, accuracy, exam history), save your preferences, and grant the Premium features you have purchased.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share personal data for profit. The only third parties involved are Apple (app distribution and payment processing, subject to Apple's privacy policy) and RevenueCat (purchase validation and restoration, as described above). No data brokers, no advertising networks, no social-media trackers.

Your Rights (GDPR)

As a Sweden/EU-based developer we follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), known in Dutch as the Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming (AVG). The Netherlands is an EU member state, so the GDPR applies there directly, supplemented by the Dutch GDPR Implementation Act (Uitvoeringswet AVG). Because your personal data lives on your device, you are in direct control of it:

• Access & portability: view your progress and statistics inside the app
• Rectification: change your name and preferences at any time
• Erasure: delete all local data by deleting the app; manage purchases via your Apple ID / App Store account — see Request data deletion
• Objection/restriction: you can use the app without entering a name and without making any purchase

For questions about purchase data held by our processor, or to exercise any GDPR right, contact us (below). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens or the Swedish Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).

Children's Privacy

Rijklaar does not knowingly collect personal data from children. As all data stays on the device and no profiles are created, the app is safe for users of all ages. Driving-theory study is generally aimed at users preparing for a licence (the car theory exam can be taken from 16 years in the Netherlands).

Data Security

• iOS App Sandbox isolation and on-device encryption protect stored data
• No transmission of your personal data to servers we operate
• Purchase data is transmitted securely between Apple, RevenueCat and your device

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect app changes or legal requirements. We will update the "Last Updated" date and, for significant changes, provide notice within the app.

Privacy – kort in het Nederlands

Rijklaar bewaart alles over jou alleen op je eigen apparaat: de naam die je eventueel invult, je antwoorden, resultaten, reeksen en instellingen. Er wordt niets naar ons verstuurd. De app heeft geen account, geen advertenties en geen tracking. Het enige dat je apparaat verlaat, is wat Apple en de betaaldienst RevenueCat nodig hebben om een Premium-aankoop te bevestigen en te herstellen (een willekeurige app-gebruikers-ID en het aankoopbewijs – nooit je kaartnummer).
